BBQ 2Nite ~ Traditional Pakistani Barbecue - Newtown

As we are inner city wankers we often fall under the belief that we need to travel to the outer suburbs of Sydney to get good food. But what happens when something great, something we would brave the public transport system for, opens right up the road from us? We rejoice.

BBQ 2Nite has had a slow start, but the joint has slowly been getting busier over the weeks we've been visiting because man, these folks can cook, and it is run by seriously nice folks.

The intial menu was confusing (a new menu is underway at the time of writing) with unexplained dishes and a myriad of meal deals that come with chips and Pepsi. We found the easiest way to order is to tell the boss lady what we vaguely felt like eating and she would whip up a killer combo for us, such as this little feast above.

Haleem - king of curries - and one of our favourites - cooked long and slow so that it breaks down into a rich, heavenly paste that's just made to be scooped up with naan bread.

We've been on a biryani bender of late and this one is a beaut, nicely spiced with chunks of tender lamb.

Our meal deal comes with salad to counter the Pepsi.

On our second visit we are still struggling with the menu so we just tell boss lady we're in the mood for for grill. It's fantastic - to get grills this good we usually schlep out to Merrylands, Auburn or Fairfield. Now we've got it at home. Joy.

We come back another night just to try the Desi Burger.

The Desi Burger has a soft, spicy, bean-y patty, along with salad and bun.

  2. Just a bit like the old Faheem Fast Food up Enmore Road, which appeared to have closed or moved last time I drove down there. Any updates on Faheem please?

    1. It's still going strong up the top of Enmore Rd, near Metropolitan St. It moved a few years ago to this new location and has spread across two shops.
